Scott Ray is an industry leader in Health and Safety. Recognized for his business acumen and innovative approach, Scott has a track record in successfully implementing H&S systems that result in fostering a culture of operational excellence. His 25 year Health and Safety career includes both technical and leadership experience within diverse industries including energy/utilities, manufacturing, higher education, construction, defense and aerospace.
Most recently Scott led Atlantic Power as Vice President of EHS. In this role Scott developed a world class sustainable management system and the creation of a positive safety culture. Scott developed a strategic plan aligned with the organizations mission to achieve industry best in class performance. Scott also focused on Executive Leadership Team effectiveness and operational excellence.
Scott held various leadership roles at Honeywell International with increasing levels of responsibilities supporting field services, defense and aerospace businesses. Scott’s greatest achievement while at Honeywell was supporting and facilitating operational excellence initiatives. Scott also developed a global EHS Leadership Program in which more than 500 employees participated in the first year. Scott supported the integration of a $200MM dollar acquisition and managed key due diligence projects that had impact on the company’s EHS risk profile.
Prior to joining Honeywell, Scott held various roles with Calpine that included site EHS Coordinator to Regional H&S Manager, and Construction/Commissioning Safety Leader. In these positions, Scott developed a number of safety programs and policies related to generation, transmission, and distribution and led Calpine’s Rhode Island generating plant to an OSHA VPP Star site. Scott also led efforts to earn other Calpine OSHA VPP Star certificates and served as an OSHA Special Government Employee.
Scott is a veteran of the US Navy, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY at Saratoga, NY, and is a Certified Safety Professional. Scott frequently speaks at ASSE conferences and is a standing member of the ASSE, BCSP, and AWEA.
